Well Established Piano Curriculum

Trinity College - Offers qualifications in the performing and creative arts. Their exams and assessments are written to aid students and trainees to evolve; to mark an achievement at each level of their musical development,  on a journey towards fulfilment of their own talents and abilities.

The Associated Board - encourages musical achievement through assessment of students, the professional development of their tutors, and a wide range of published books. They also actively support and encourage music education through funding and advocacy.

The Associated Board

Learning piano is to many just "Learning By Rote", and  there are some out there that believe in this approach. I believe however, that the key to learning is teaching the things that a pupil wants to learn and doing it in the correct way.

Having fun is key to success. Please call for further details on piano lessons in Potters Bar. (Please note that 24 hours notice is required for any lesson cancellations).

Teaching Philosophy

I have realised that there are so many similar themes that bind various genres of music - these themes are explored in all of the lessons that I give - I believe that it is so important to establish at least some classical training for piano (sight reading is always recommended). The techniques seen in classical music can be used and adapted to pretty much any other popular style.

I use piano resources which are long established and combine them with my teaching approach for rapid progression. There are many piano books out there - many piano teachers use random texts for their students - over the years I have selected and now provide only the best text books for my students irrespective of their style or level of musicianship.
